The Beer Store offers a variety of internal learning and career development programs to help you expand your knowledge, develop new skills, and achieve your career goals.
Here are some examples of our Career Development Programs
Continuing Education (Tuition Reimbursement) Program:
The Continuing Education program supports full-time employees seeking to obtain knowledge or skills that will enhance their competency in current roles or help to prepare them for potential advancements within the organization. Employees are eligible to receive up to $3,000 per calendar year if they are enrolled in a Degree, Diploma, Certificate program from an accredited post-secondary institution.
Leadership Program:
This program is available for full-time People Managers from all divisions or the organization including Logistics, Retail, Draught Services, Customer Contact Centre, and the Corporate Office. The Leadership Program focuses on developing skills such as coaching, mentoring, business acumen as well as the completion of a 360-degree assessment.
Mentorship Program:
This program is available for full-time People Managers from all divisions or the organization including Logistics, Retail, Draught Services, Customer Contact Centre, and the Corporate Office. It is a year-long program where high potential employees are matched up with a Senior Leader who will act as their mentor throughout the year. This is a self-managed program, where employees will receive coaching and mentorship related to their developmental goals and objectives.
Retail High Potential Program:
This program is designed for Full-time and Part-time Bargaining Unit employees who wish to become a Retail Store Manager. Employees who are interested in this program must now apply when the program is available. This program is a requirement if applying for a Store Manager job opportunity. The self-directed program runs for a 3-month period and provides employees with exposure to roles and responsibilities of a Store Manager.
Scholarship Program:
The Annual Scholarship Program is available to all Beer Store employees who are full-time post-secondary students or employees who have a child/dependent who is a full-time post-secondary student. Each year we award up to 30 Scholarships valued at $1,000 to help our employees or their children/dependents reach their educational goals!

Applying for Internal Career Opportunities at The Beer Store
Employees are encouraged to apply to any of the Non-Union career opportunities available on our Internal Careers portal via The Pub! Our Non-Union Recruitment Policy mandates that all job vacancies must be posted online. All internal job applications are carefully reviewed by the Hiring Team, and a member of the Talent Acquisition Team will reach out to internal applicants for an initial discussion of their interest in the position and long-term career goals. However, due to the high volume of applications we receive, we cannot guarantee that an internal applicant will be selected to move forward in the hiring process.
The Talent Acquisition team sends out a weekly communication "Cheers to Careers" with a link to our internal Careers portal. Managers/Supervisors are instructed to print and post each weekly bulletin and share it with our frontline workers. We also recommend signing up for Job Alerts on our career site so that you can receive an e-mail notification whenever a new job opportunity becomes available in your area/location of interest.
