The Role
We are seeking an experienced and forward‑thinking Director, Project Management Office (PMO) to join us as a key strategic leader, reporting to the Senior Director, Strategy & Execution. This vacancy is a full‑time, permanent role and will shape the way The Beer Store (TBS) and Brewers Distributor Ltd. (BDL) deliver enterprise initiatives that drive meaningful business transformation. As the Director, PMO, you will lead the organization’s project delivery engine; overseeing large, complex, multi‑stream programs while designing and strengthening the governance, frameworks, and practices that enable consistent, high‑quality execution. You will champion a culture of project management excellence, ensuring alignment between enterprise priorities and the initiatives that bring them to life. This is a highly influential role that combines hands‑on oversight of critical business initiatives with the strategic design and evolution of PMO functions. Your expertise will guide cross‑functional teams, elevate decision‑making, and help build a high‑performing organization that is equipped to deliver on TBS & BDL’s long‑term strategic goals.
Location
This position is based at the Company’s Corporate Office. Regular in person attendance is required, with a minimum of three (3) days per week in the office. Our Corporate Office is located in Bolton, ON.
What You'll Be Doing
- Lead the full lifecycle of enterprise programs and projects ensuring alignment with business objectives, budgets, timelines, and quality standards
- Establish and maintain portfolio governance frameworks, including intake, prioritization, resource planning, and performance reporting
- Drive end‑to‑end delivery of strategic programs and transformation initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and stakeholder expectations
- Monitor portfolio health, risks, dependencies, and overall performance, providing proactive insights and recommendations to senior leadership
- Standardize and enhance project management methodologies to ensure consistency, transparency, and high‑quality execution across the organization
- Set clear escalation paths and governance protocols to manage risks and resolve issues impacting portfolio and project delivery
- Lead the enterprise PMO, setting the long‑term strategy, operating model, and roadmap to elevate project delivery excellence
- Partner with executive leadership to translate corporate strategy into actionable programs and a prioritized enterprise project portfolio
- Mentor PMO leadership and project teams, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
- Build strong cross‑functional relationships and facilitate executive governance forums to support informed decision‑making and stakeholder alignment
- Oversee PMO budgets, resource planning, vendor management, and performance dashboards, driving operational efficiency and data‑driven decision‑making
- Perform other related duties and projects as assigned
Who You Are - Your Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Education
- Master’s degree in Business, Engineering or Arts
- PMP or PgMP certification required
Experience
- 10+ years of progressive experience in project, program, or portfolio management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
- Experience in retail, logistics, consumer goods, or similarly complex operational environments is an asset
- Strong understanding of project management methodologies, tools and full project/product lifecycle
- Proven ability to lead cross functional teams and manage large scale, multi year initiatives
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
- Demonstrated ability to balance strategic thinking with hands on execution
Skills
- Project Management – proficient in project planning, execution and budget management. Skilled in risk management and resource allocation across multiple projects
- Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships across functions and levels of the organization
- Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with multiple priorities and tight deadlines
- Strategic mindset with a keen attention to detail and a passion for driving business results
- Strong communicator with the ability to provide timely updates to various levels of the organization (Front Line to Executive)
- Ability to inspire, influence, and guide cross-functional teams and stakeholders
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills, ensuring timely completion of projects while navigating competing demands
- Excellent budgeting and scheduling skills
- Experience with MS Suite (Project, Excel, Word)
Compensation
The hiring range for this position is $128,300-$160,400 CAD per year. The final agreed upon salary may vary based on factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experience.
