The Role

We are currently searching for a Manager, Strategy & Execution reporting to the Senior Director, Strategy & Execution. This vacancy is a full-time, permanent opportunity.  This is a high impact position where you will manage, facilitate and oversee the strategy development process for all corporate and commercial projects. You’ll partner with senior leaders to shape priorities, build actionable plans, and lead cross‑functional teams to strengthen The Beer Store (TBS) and Brewers Distributor Ltd. (BDL) decision-making and drive actionable results.

Location

Our Corporate Office is located in Bolton, ON. We offer a hybrid work model with visits into the office a minimum of three times per week and on an as-needed basis depending on the role and function.

What You'll Be Doing

Driving the Strategy

  • Help shape the big-picture direction for TBS and BDL - what we focus on, why it matters, and how we win
  • Facilitate cross-functional ideation and problem-solving sessions with TBS and BDL employees of all levels, contributing thought leadership and analytical skills to drive teams towards actionable insights
  • Monitor market trends and competitive activity, identifying and sharing leading practices for our business

 

Project Execution 

  • Turn strategic ideas into clear, actionable plans that teams can rally behind. Responsible for executing the strategies including determining goals and objectives, to drive business initiatives, ensuring alignment from all stakeholders
  • Work independently with senior executives to lead and support both enterprise and business unit led strategic projects, working cross-functionally with internal and external resources to deliver outcomes on time and within budget
  • Perform detailed analytics to support project work 

 

Executive 

  • Conduct stakeholder interviews, working group sessions, external partner sessions and leadership team sessions on core strategy topics throughout the planning process
  • Work alongside the Senior Management Team (SMT) to create presentations and reports to enhance decision making and gain stakeholder buy-in (i.e. across multiple levels of the business, including SMT meetings, town halls, Board of Director and Committee meetings, and external public submissions)
  • Other related projects and duties as assigned.
     

Who You Are - Your Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Education

  • Undergraduate degree in a discipline that teaches quantitative analysis and critical thinking (e.g., business, accounting, marketing, computer science, engineering, law, mathematics or related).
  • MBA preferred

Experience

  • 8+ years of strategy experience gained working in management consulting firm and/or internal strategy group preferred
  • Experience building business cases to support strategy execution, evaluating new business opportunities, developing go-to-market strategies, and business model assessments
  • Experience in leading cross-functional teams, working extensively with and presenting to senior leadership, and driving high quality output to support decision making

Skills

  • A track record of creative problem solving and proactive, future-focused thinking
  • Strong communication and presentation skills (and PowerPoint proficiency) with exposure to presenting to senior leadership
  • Strong analytical skills and experience manipulating data and building models in Excel and/or other more advanced analytical tools (e.g. Tableau, PowerBI)
  • Demonstrated people management skills and leadership qualities
  • Comfortable with change/ambiguity and leading in dynamic environments
  • Able to understand ‘the big picture’ using strategic agility and balance this with the operational reality. Is future oriented and can anticipate future consequences and trends accurately
  • Self-directed, capable of effectively managing tasks in a rapidly evolving environment
