The Role

We are currently searching for a Manager, TBS Accounting & Reporting, reporting to the Senior Manager, Financial Advisory & Reporting.  This vacancy is a full-time, permanent opportunity. The Manager, TBS Accounting & Reporting, is responsible for the accuracy and timely delivery of The Beer Store (TBS) financial statements and shareholder reporting, ensuring compliance with company policies and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). This role manages the accounting and financial close process (month end, quarter end and year end) including reviewing and validating journal entries and reconciliations and resolving any issues. The Manager, TBS Accounting & Reporting leads the preparation of the annual financial statements, including accompanying note disclosures, as well as providing support for annual financial statement audits, internal audit engagements and other operational reviews.  This role leads and mentors Senior Accountants and represents the TBS Accounting & Reporting team in cross functional projects and corporate initiatives.

Location

Our Corporate Office is located in Bolton, ON. We offer a hybrid work model with visits into the office a minimum of three times per week and on an as-needed basis depending on the role and function.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Oversee the month‑end financial close for The Beer Store, coordinating with Retail, Logistics, and Corporate teams to ensure all deliverables are completed accurately and within established timelines
  • Ensure all accounting and reporting is in accordance with TBS financial policies and processes and in compliance with internal controls
  • Maintain the integrity of the general ledger, chart of accounts and cost centres, approve changes to hierarchy and create new accounts as required
  • Review and approve all journal entries posted to the general ledger, ensuring completeness and accuracy
  • Review and manage fixed asset and right-of-use asset ledgers ensuring accuracy and completeness
  • Review and approve balance sheet account reconciliations, ensuring timely resolution of reconciling items 
  • Analyze financial results and investigate variances, providing clear insights and recommendations to senior management, shareholders, and operational teams
  • Lead monthly results meetings, presenting performance against plan and prior periods to senior finance leadership
  • Prepare and distribute accurate monthly financial results, including balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statement to senior management
  • Coordinate, prepare, and distribute shareholder reporting packages
  • Lead quarterly and year‑end reporting processes, including preparation of annual financial statements, note disclosures, and supporting documentation
  • Oversee preparation of working paper files and supporting documentation for internal and external audits, as well as government information requests
  • Provide guidance and support to operational teams and financial planning regarding financial reporting and technical accounting matters
  • Manage, coach, and develop a team of Senior Accountants, overseeing workload planning, performance management, training, and employee engagement
  • Perform other related duties and projects as assigned

Who You Are - Your Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Education

  • Post Secondary degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Professional accounting designation (CPA) required

Experience

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • 3+ years experience in managing employees or leading cross-functional projects
  • Experience working with SAP/large ERP systems
  • Prior experience in audit and assurance is an asset

Skills

  • Strong detailed working knowledge of IFRS including expertise in IFRS 16 - leases
  • Excellent attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and execution
  • Exceptional organizational skills; ability to manage multiple competing priorities and meet tight deadlines
  • Sound critical thinking; proven problem-solving and excellent analytical skills
  • Strong leadership and team building skills with an ability to develop and motivate team members
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to concisely summarize and communicate complex issues to FP&A, Logistics, PMO, Retail and Real Estate leaders
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to develop collaborative relationships at all levels across the organization
  • Advanced Excel skills including the ability to create and manage complex worksheets, pivot tables and macros; strong proficiency with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint

Compensation

Salary range? Yup, we’ve got one: $95,000–$108,885 CAD per year. But here’s the real deal - if you’re the perfect brew of experience, skills, and personality, we’re open to exploring beyond the range. Tell us what you’re working with, and let’s pour over it together.
