The Role
We are currently searching for a Process & Project Engineer – Warehouse & Distribution, reporting to the Senior Manager, Project Engineering. This vacancy is a full-time, permanent opportunity. The Process & Project Engineer - Warehouse & Distribution will lead the technical and engineering aspects of capital or process improvement projects within The Beer Store and Brewers Distributor Ltd., from front-end planning through commissioning and handover in any one of our national warehouse distribution / transportation environments. This role will translate business objectives into practical engineering solutions, ensuring projects deliver on time, within scope, on budget, and in full compliance with national standards (e.g., National Building Code of Canada, CSA standards) and provincial/territorial regulations.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical expertise, project coordination skills, knowledge of Canadian regulatory frameworks, and a commitment to innovation and continuous improvement. This role drives impactful projects that enhance operational efficiency, safety, compliance with Canadian regulations, and innovation. The successful candidate delivers high-value engineering solutions aligned with organizational and public safety goals.
Location
Our Corporate Office is located in Bolton, ON. This role follows a flexible work model that includes a blend of remote work and time at Company worksites. The position also requires approximately 10–15% travel to our sites across our operating provinces, including Ontario, British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan.
What You'll Be Doing
- Lead end‑to‑end delivery of engineering and capital projects, including warehouse process improvements, automation, mechanization, and material handling system upgrades
- Translate business needs into actionable engineering solutions, including feasibility studies, cost‑benefit analyses, and concept designs
- Develop, review, and oversee technical designs, layouts, and engineering documentation to ensure compliance with national/provincial codes and industry standards
- Create detailed project scopes, budgets, and schedules; monitor progress, manage risks, and ensure on‑time, on‑budget execution
- Coordinate installation, commissioning, and handover activities across electrical, mechanical, and operational disciplines
- Serve as the primary liaison with internal teams, contractors, vendors, and regulatory bodies to ensure alignment and seamless project execution
- Manage contractor and vendor performance, including selection, negotiation, and evaluation against technical and operational KPIs
- Ensure all projects meet regulatory, safety, environmental, food/beverage handling, and sustainability requirements
- Conduct risk assessments and ensure proper permitting, safety protocols, and compliance throughout project execution
- Analyze warehouse and distribution processes to identify inefficiencies and recommend engineering‑driven improvements
- Evaluate and introduce new technologies, equipment, and innovations to enhance throughput, reliability, and long‑term asset performance
- Develop and optimize facility layouts, engineered labor standards, and process flows to support operational excellence
- Define system and utility requirements (controls, MES, HVAC, electrical, compressed air, etc.) and ensure proper integration into existing operations
- Lead FAT/SAT testing, asset tagging, and commissioning activities to ensure systems meet performance, reliability, and handover criteria
- Maintain comprehensive project documentation, lessons learned, and continuous‑improvement practices to support future capital planning
- Perform other related duties and projects as assigned
Who You Are - Your Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or related field
- Master’s degree (MBA, MEng, MSc) considered an asset
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng)/PE designation required
- Certification in one of the following is preferred: Project Management Professional (PMP), Change Management (CMP), Six Sigma/LEED, MOST
Experience
- 8+ years of experience in project engineering within manufacturing, production, warehouse distribution or process industries in Canada
- Experience with MES, process control systems, automation integration, and CRN registration for pressure equipment is preferred
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and provincial energy/climate resiliency standards is preferred
- Proven track record managing capital projects from concept through commissioning
Skills
- Project Management Skills: Critical for handling schedules, budgets, resources, and timelines
- Familiarity with tools like MS Project. Includes risk assessment, cost estimation, and quality assurance
- Strong Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Clear written and verbal communication with stakeholders and the ability to explain technical concepts to non‑technical audiences
- Problem-Solving, Analytical, and Organizational Skills: Ability to troubleshoot issues, analyze data, manage multiple tasks, and ensure compliance with safety/regulatory standards (e.g., OSHA)
- Strong knowledge of Canadian national codes and standards (including NBC, CSA, ASME where applicable) and provincial building codes, OHS regulations, environmental permits, and technical safety authorities (e.g., TSSA, Technical Safety BC).
- Construction safety supervision
- Ability to navigate cross-jurisdictional requirements in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in engineering software/tools (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit, Visio, MS Project, MS Visio)
- Ability to work autonomously given hybrid work environment
- Ability to travel to support critical activities/milestones throughout the project life cycle

Compensation
The hiring range for this position is $93,000-$116,200 CAD per year. The final agreed upon salary may vary based on factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experience.
