The Role

We are currently searching for a Senior Accountant reporting to the Supervisor, BDL Accouting. This is a full-time, 12-month contract opportunity. The Senior Accountant is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting for Brewers Distributor Ltd. (BDL), managing month-end and year-end processes, and maintaining compliance across multiple entities. This role works closely with business units and corporate teams to deliver reliable financial insights, support audits, and drive process improvements. 

Location

Our Corporate Office is located in Bolton, ON. We offer a hybrid work model with visits into the office a minimum of three times per week and on an as-needed basis depending on the role and function.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Ensure accurate, timely preparation of BDL monthly financial statements, sales and volume reports, and schedules for the province(s) 
  • Maintenance of all relevant files and supporting documents including monthly balance sheet, statement of profit and loss, statement of cash flow, note disclosure, journal entries and continuity schedules
  • Oversee end-to-end closing process by partnering with the British Columbia business unit, ensuring process compliance, including communication and training
  • Oversee end-to-end closing process for a non-for-profit related-party legal entity, including financial statement preparation 
  • Monthly balance sheet general ledger reconciliations and analysis 
  • Perform complex root cause analysis independently, recommend improvements and assist with implementation of complex solutions
  • Prepare and enter monthly general ledger journal entries & accruals
  • Liaise with different corporate departments and British Columbia operations team to review financial results, improve processes and  resolve issues impacting financial integrity  
  • Support year-end financial and liquor board audits 
  • Complete annual BDL full goods and empty pricing models
  • Liaise with external customers to ensure accuracy of aluminum sales and timely payment receipt 
  • Perform other related duties and projects as assigned 

Who You Are - Your Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Education

  • Post Secondary Degree in Business (administration/commerce or related) required
  • CPA designation or advanced standing within such a program is preferred

Experience

  • 5 to 10 years progressive accounting experience, adept in financial statement preparation
  • Previous experience with SAP is desired

Skills

  • Working knowledge of IFRS
  • Self-motivated, strong analytical, problem solving skills and ability to manage multiple competing priorities
  • Excellent levels of communication both verbal and written
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel (creating and working with complex worksheets (pivot tables, formula - sumif, lookup, etc.), Word, and PowerPoint; Working knowledge of Business Warehouse tools is desired
  • Financial analysis and modelling capability
  • Ability and willingness to work outside normal hours during month-end and other peak periods
