The Role
We are currently searching for a Strategic Projects Manager, Stewardship, reporting to the Director, Stewardship Strategy. This vacancy is a full-time, permanent opportunity. The Strategic Projects Manager leads the planning and delivery of complex, cross‑functional projects that advance the organization’s stewardship strategy and long‑term objectives. Partnering closely with business leaders, project sponsors, and delivery teams, this role ensures projects are executed with clarity, discipline, and measurable value, while meeting defined scope, timelines, and budgets. The Strategic Projects Manager also plays a key role in enabling informed decision‑making through strong governance, analysis, and project reporting, supporting both strategic priorities and operational excellence.
Location
Our Corporate Office is located in Bolton, ON. This is a field-based role with visits to the office on an as-needed basis. Up to 15% of business travel is required to support organizational needs, therefore a valid driver's license and access to a vehicle is required.
What You'll Be Doing
- Lead end‑to‑end planning and delivery of strategic stewardship projects, ensuring outcomes are achieved within defined scope, timelines, budgets, and quality expectations
- Apply creative and analytical thinking to design innovative, practical solutions that close service gaps and improve stewardship outcomes
- Champion new initiatives that explore the art of the possible, including opportunities to increase awareness, improve empty returns, and raise return rates
- Develop and maintain integrated project plans, schedules, milestones, and dependencies across multiple initiatives and operational activities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for project sponsors and key stakeholders, facilitating decision‑making and managing expectations throughout delivery
- Lead joint projects with senior leaders and stewardship agencies, providing insights that inform strategic decisions and support corporate goals and franchise success
- Prepare and deliver executive‑level updates, dashboards, and decision materials to communicate progress, risks, and outcomes
- Proactively identify, assess, and manage project risks, issues, and dependencies, driving timely resolution and effective escalation when required
- Build business cases, manage project budgets and forecasts, and track financial performance against approved funding
- Provide people leadership by managing and developing the Stewardship Coordinator, supporting knowledge transfer, capability growth, and high‑quality execution
- Perform other related duties and projects as assigned
Who You Are - Your Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Project Management, Information Technology or related field
- Project Management Professional (PMP), equivalent certification or proven work experience is required
Experience
- 5+ years of progressive project management experience within a PMO or enterprise delivery environment
- Proven experience managing medium-to-large-scale, cross-functional projects
- Experience working with senior leaders, project sponsors, and external vendors
- Demonstrated experience with PMO governance, reporting and portfolio-level processes
- Experience in change management and organizational transformation initiatives preferred
Skills
- Creative thinker with a hands-on approach
- Strong project planning, scheduling, and risk management capabilities
- Excellent stakeholder management and executive communication skills
- Financial acumen, including budget management and forecasting
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams without direct authority
- Proficiency with project management tools (e.g. MS Project, Smartsheet, Jira, Monday.com or equivalent)
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- High attention to detail combined with the ability to maintain a strategic, big-picture view
Compensation
