The Role

We are currently searching for a Supervisor, Operations (Transportation) reporting to the Manager, DC Operations. This is a Full-Time, Contract opportunity for 12-months. Candidates must have open availability to work various shifts on days, afternoons, and weekends. Future business needs may require this role to include overnight shifts. Candidates with open availability will be given priority.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Coordinate and supervise the shift activities within a busy unionized DC environment 
  • Monitor all transport crews to ensure all deliveries are made in a timely fashion in full 
  • Providing a primary point of contact to internal and external customers 
  • Managing ad hoc requests, their viability, and follow up communication 
  • Training of new and existing employees and performance management 
  • Addressing all deliver related issues with staff and customers in an expedient manner 
  • Ensure that customer service targets and goals are successfully met 
  • Conduct workplace investigations and subsequent follow up 
  • Review work group performance and implement corrective action when necessary 
  • Ensure the company’s Health and Safety, Operational and Budgetary efficiencies are met 
  • Exemplify the Company’s dedication to customer service 
  • Other responsibilities involve Inventory, Fleet and Warehouse Management, Quality Control, SOX and Audit compliance 
  • Other related duties as assigned

Who You Are - Your Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Post-secondary education is considered an asset

Experience

  • A minimum of 3 - 5 years of operations experience
  • Previous experience with SAP is considered an asset
  • Previous experience working in a unionized environment would be a strong asset
  • This role requires that you hold a valid "G" class licence

Skills

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate with employees across all levels of the organization.
  • Proven leadership ability to effectively manage the team of direct reports
  • Demonstrates positive interpersonal skills with peers, leaders, internal and external customers.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • The ability to make sound decisions in a timely fashion
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety, Ministry of Transportation and WSIB regulations would be an asset
