The Role
We are currently searching for a dynamic Talent Acquisition Specialist reporting to the Manager, Talent Acquisition. This is a 12-month, full-time contract opportunity. As a Talent Acquisition Specialist, you will be a key partner in attracting and hiring top talent across a range of functions at The Beer Store. In this fast-paced, hands-on role, you’ll manage full-cycle recruitment for both corporate and field positions, while also supporting high-volume hiring campaigns and strategic talent initiatives. You’ll collaborate closely with hiring managers and stakeholders across Ontario to deliver an exceptional candidate and hiring manager experience. This role also supports recruitment-related projects, events, and systems, helping to strengthen and evolve our overall talent acquisition strategy.
Location
Our Corporate Office is located in Bolton, ON. We offer a hybrid work model with visits into the office a minimum of twice per week and on an as-needed basis depending on the role and function.
What You'll Be Doing
- Full cycle recruitment for non-union full time permanent and contract positions. This includes creating and posting job vacancies, pre-screening, interviewing, conducting references, selection, and offer presentation and negotiation
- Supporting part time union recruitment in logistics and retail
- Support Recruitment Campaigns, typically for Summer Students, Retail Store Managers and Warehouse Workers. Must be able to lead these initiatives if required
- Organize recruitment/talent acquisition and networking events, based on careers and employer brand marketing activities (i.e. job fairs)
- Conduct behavioural and technical telephone and in-person interviews to assess candidate’s ability to succeed in open positions. Some interviews will need to be conducted at a site-specific location within retail stores or distribution centres across Ontario
- Take part in recruitment/talent acquisition activities and networking events, based on careers and employer brand marketing activities (i.e. job fairs)
- Advise and guide hiring managers on organizational recruitment policies and best practices and participate in selection of final candidates. Enforce the use of recruitment templates, evaluation grids and ensure the diversity and inclusion practices and company policies are adhered to
- Travel up to 20% within the entire province of Ontario for in-person interviews
- Track all candidate activity within ATS, system administrative duties as required
- Create offer letters from templates, able to select correct template and edit based on provincial legislation
- Keep detailed interview notes from phone interviews and in-person interviews, utilize candidate evaluation grid
- Create and/or edit phone screen templates, job postings, interview guides and evaluation guides while working closely with hiring manager on job requirements
- Create tests with Hiring Manager for roles to assess required skills and competencies
- Ability to handle first level HR issues effectively and escalate to appropriate HR contact as required
- Support other human resources initiatives and projects as required, including company events, and employee engagement projects
Who You Are - Your Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Education
- Post secondary education in Business, Human Resources or related program preferred
- Completed Certified Human Resources Profession (CHRP) or Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) designation, (or in progress) is considered an asset
- Valid drivers license with access to a vehicle required
Experience
- Minimum 2 - 4 years of experience in Human Resources and Recruitment
- Must have experience in full cycle recruitment/talent acquisition ideally in both agency and corporate environments (this includes sourcing, screening, interviewing, offer presentation, and negotiation)
- Recruitment experience in a variety of roles including but not limited to: Logistics, Retail, Finance, Marketing, Management, and Technology
- Must have experience using an Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) and Applicant Tracking System (ATS); experience working with SAP would be an asset
- Experience with cold calling and talent sourcing; experience with LinkedIn, Indeed and other sourcing databases and Boolean search
Skills
- Demonstrates understanding and working knowledge of relevant Employee and Labour Legislation including Employment Standards Act, Ontario Labour Relations Act, Human Rights Code
- Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Superior multi-tasking, critical thinking, and communication skills (including written, oral and interpersonal)
- Must be able to travel up to 20% within the entire province of Ontario
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, facilitation and presentation skills with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation
