The Role

We are currently searching for an Assistant Manager, Automation reporting into the Manager, Automation. This is a Full-Time, Permanent opportunity. The Assistant Manager, Automation is responsible for supporting and/or leading any recovery, troubleshooting, and analysis efforts along with being accountable for scheduling, system success, reliability, and improvement. This role will support the teams’ knowledge of current and future automation requirements by providing training, education, and documentation.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Provide leadership and front-line supervision of employees in an automated and unionized warehouse environment
  • Hands on operation of robotic automation equipment
  • Performance management of employees
  • Responsible and accountable for daily throughput numbers and automation KPI
  • Plan, organize, and manage workflows to maintain efficient and effective warehouse operations
  • Ability to understand and demonstrate strong business acumen
  • Ensure that customer service targets and goals are successfully met
  • Ensure the company’s Health and Safety, Operational and Budgetary efficiencies
  • Perform other related duties and projects as assigned 

Who You Are - Your Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Post Secondary Degree or Certification in a related field required

Experience

  • 1-3 years of mechanical, electrical or instrumentation experience is required
  • 5+ years of related work experience required
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience in unionized work environments within a manufacturing, warehousing, and/or distribution facility setting
  • Previous experience using HMI (Operator Interface) to operate automated equipment would be considered an asset
  • Previous experience with robotics or related equipment would be considered an asset

  • Strong labour relations knowledge and background
  • Demonstrated people management skills and leadership qualities
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Proven work ethic and ability to work in a high pressure environment
  • Strong communication and writing skills, ability to multi-task and communicate with a variety of stakeholders
  • Ability to develop solutions to complex problems with an eye for detail
  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint)

The base salary for this position will range between $83,000 and $103,700.
